Choosing the right carrier

View below for guide to the most suitable carrier to fit your fur buddy. Consider the natural position. If they sit tall, you can get a carrier with a good height when the carrier is upright. Most airline requires to keep carrier under seat in front of you. Therefore a soft carrier is required in case you have to press down a little to fit under the seat properly. If you have a long body fur buddy you can consider a carrier with maximum length allowance which is around 55cm for certain airlines.

You can consider putting a small fan near the netted material to keep them more ventilated with fresh air and cool if you have a floofy buddy. Place some blankets with their scent or toys to keep them comfortable in the carrier.
We highly recommend expandable carriers as you can expand under the seat if space permits. So your fur buddy can stretch a bit for long-hour flights.

If you have a fur buddy who is in the 6kg - 7kg plus weight range, we have weighed all our carriers bare, without the straps and base, removing everything possible just for the weighing at counter before departure. Find something lighter so he/she does not have to diet much to fit under the weight limit.

Train your fur buddy

Most of them tend to be anxious in carrier, especially it is their first time and some may not be comfortable staying in for hours. Training is required to keep them calm and get use to the carrier. You can place the carrier in the house treat it like a safe zone, put treats/toys in if you have to lure them in for the first few time. Treat this carrier like a safe zone, every time they want to escape something like nail trimming or after getting scolding they can hide in this carrier and you let he/she escape fearful incident. If they get comfortable going in voluntarily and staying, try zipping for a short time. See if they can settle in carrier without struggling to get out. Try a few more treats/toy luring if they are still anxious. If you can keep the carrier zipped try playing some aircraft sound to get them used to the noise as well.
